The Contra Costa Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA) is governed by a Governance Council composed of six voting superintendents from member Local Education Agencies (LEA) and one non-voting representative from Community Advisory Committee.

Through a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA), the Contra Costa SELPA Governance Council shall meet no less than four times per school year. Additional meetings may be called at the request of any representative of the Governance Council pursuant to adopted policies.

The Contra Costa SELPA Director is responsible for preparing the agenda and all supporting materials for each meeting. The agenda and packet materials are available 72 hours in advance of each meeting date at the SELPA office.

All meetings of the Governance Council shall be held according to law.
